Able And Ambitious (AAA) Program

The East Otero School District believes that students who are classified as within the Able and Ambitious program, and wish to pursue Future Careers Program (FCP) study mentorships or to pursue college course work while in high school may be permitted to do so pursuant to Policy IGCDA, adopted 5-28-91. Interested students should speak to the District AAA G/T Coordinator and a counselor to initiate the process.
Those AAA freshmen-seniors seeking rigorous Future Careers Program (FCP) advance study mentorships must make course arrangements with the AAA G/T Coordinator and a counselor. SPACE IS LIMITED! There are some 47 varieties of subject offering, some off-campus, some-on campus. (See GT/MENTORSHIP section for possible mentorship offering.) Please note that some OJC courses are on a "Room-Basis Only," and a Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Application Form is required.

G/T Mentor Credit: Varies
Prerequisite: G/T Coordinator and parent approval (Arrangements must be made with the District AAA G/T Coordinator and a counselor.)

Courses are designed for the individual student in many area of advanced study. Requirements are tailored to fit the particular study at hand. Assessment techniques are used to keep the student abreast of his/her progress. (portfolio requirement). Community mentorship experiences are limited to students who can provide their own transportation. Some of the possible Future Careers Program (FCP) mentorships include studies in the fields, history, Comanche Grasslands, National Park Services, AP studio art, music technical computer projects, legal services, advanced drama/directorial, education as a profession, dance, industrial accounting, student council leadership, etc.
